Favorites

Just like a web browser Magellan Explorer supports the concept of favorites. You can save the location of the folders you access  frequently to allow quick and easy access.

This feature works not only for local file system folders, but also for archives and FTP sites (in addition to the site manager presented in section 5).

History

Another feature “taken” from the web browser is the folder history. By automatically maintaining a list of the last folders open, Magellan Explorer let’s you jump back and forth between folders with ease. Each of the two folder windows (if you have both visible) have their own history in addition to a global one.

Taking the history feature one step further, recent search and filter terms and patterns as well as select and deselect patterns are also remembered.

You can clear the history as well as alter its capacity through the history configuration dialog at any time.

This dialog lets you organize your favorites

Drive bar

You get single click access to all your local and network drives on the drive bar, situated on the toolbar below the menu bar. Right clicking a drive even opens it’s context menu.

Quick bar

Located just above the folder window the quick bar gives you easy access to your favorite tools. Depending on what folder is currently open beneath it the quick bar can even adjust its contents automatically! For instance, when viewing an archive it will add tools to extract the archive.

Quick click parent

With this option enabled you can navigate to the parent folder just by moving your cursor to the edge of the folder window (opposite of the vertical scroll bar), and clicking with the left mouse button. The cursor will change as you move it to the correct spot. In addition, clicking with the right mouse button instead will take you to the root of the drive.

Spring loaded folders

This is another time saving feature. If you during a drag & drop operation hover the mouse over a folder for a short while, Magellan Explorer will navigate into that folder allowing you to drop the files on a sub folder. You can continue navigating this way until you reach your desired folder.
